A private equity-backed telecoms business in Warrington, which works with the likes of EE, 02 and BT, has acquired a company with bases in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

WHP Telecoms has snapped up Blue Clarity Design Services for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2013 by Darren Fenton, Blue Clarity, which is headquartered in County Down and has a regional office in Glasgow, provides full acquisition and design services to operators, multi-site providers and small works contractors throughout the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and Ireland.

Headquartered in Warrington with seven offices and workforce of some 700 people, Equistone-backed WHP is a provider of infrastructure support and deployment services to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ telecommunications industry.

Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone) completed the management buyout of WHP in 2018 and set out a strategy to grow organically and through strategic acquisitions.

Under the leadership of CEO Rob Potter, WHP made its first acquisition in December 2019 of project management company providing end-to-end solutions for the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s mobile and fixed line network operators Sitec Infrastructure Services.

That was followed last month when it bought Redhall Network Solutions, a Derbyshire-based service provider to the mobile telecommunications and broadcast sectors.

Mr Potter said: "The team at Blue Clarity have developed an excellent reputation for their design capability in recent years and we are delighted to be welcoming them into WHP.
