More than 100 jobs are to be created in Newcastle through the launch of a new office by payments technology company Modern World Business Solutions. The Cambridgeshire-headquartered business says it is "laying foundations" for expansion with the debut of its Byker facility.
The firm anticipates recruiting more than 100 for positions in sales, customer service and technical support during this year. By 2027, it aims to employ more than 200 staff at its Hoults Yard location.

Modern World was established seven years ago and describes itself as a fintech enterprise that delivers technology, products, and services for sales personnel, banks processing credit and debit card transactions, and merchants. The 60-strong organisation has won awards. Hiring is currently under way for the Newcastle positions, which include flexible working arrangements, development programmes and what the firm has termed 'high-impact career advancement'.

News of the Newcastle office launch comes after Modern World's revelation last month that it has obtained £9m to finance its expansion. The company anticipates the funding will enable it to penetrate underserved segments of the merchant services and software marketplace, and alongside driving recruitment, the capital will support further advancement into the hospitality, retail, professional services and e-commerce industries.

Modern World represents the most recent enterprise to establish operations at Hoults Yard. Earlier this year North West-headquartered planning and environmental consultancy Axis selected the venue for its inaugural North East premises.
