An independent Nottingham videogames developer whose work includes the popular Worms series has made a key appointment.

Team17, which is based at Sherwood Park, has taken on Mark Crawford as permanent chief financial officer.

He joined the company on an interim basis in November, having overseen the firm’s 2019 audit. He also oversaw the relocation of the firm’s new games development studio, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, as well as the firm’s acquisition of Yippee Entertainment.

According to Team17, which floated on the stock exchange last year, Mr Crawford’s appointment followed an extensive executive search.

Chris Bell, non-executive chairman at Team17, said: “We are delighted that Mark has agreed to join Team17 on a permanent basis having made such a strong impression throughout his interim period.

“The board unanimously agreed that Mark has both the skills and experience required to support Team17's ongoing growth and strategic ambitions.”

Established in 1990, Team17 is an independent developer and games label for premium games.

It is best known for developing the popular Worms series of video games, in which players control teams of worms which use various weapons to kill each other and claim victory as the last survivor.
