A Sunderland travel insurance firm has teamed up with a Leeds firm to offer the 海角视频鈥檚 first tech solution for lost luggage.
Just Travel Cover, based in Sunderland city centre has partnered with tech firm CPP 海角视频 to launch Smart Luggage, which offers real-time automated support to airline passengers whose checked luggage goes missing.
It is estimated that around 25.4 million items of baggage were mishandled by the travel industry in 2019, costing the industry approximately 拢1.8 billion.

But Smart Luggage allows travellers to upload an image of their delayed airline luggage receipt to start the location process. Without having to make a travel insurance claim it entitles them to receive an automated 拢50 pay out within 30 minutes of checked luggage being unlocatable at the arrival airport. That rises to an additional 拢500 pay out if bags are still missing after 48 hours.
As part of the mobile-first Smart Luggage policy, travellers are then kept informed through text messages to help reunite them with their belongings.
Smart Luggage is included on all of Just Travel Cover鈥檚 gold travel insurance policies or as an addition to any silver or bronze travel insurance policy.
