A North East tech industry expert has been selected to help the Government implement its digital economy policies.
Dr David Dunn, chief executive of Sunderland Software City and chair of the 海角视频 Tech Cluster Group, has been appointed to the Digital Economy Council.
He joins the likes of Microsoft President Cindy Rose, Darktrace CEO Poppy Gustafsson, Google 海角视频 MD Ronan Harris, and Amazon 海角视频 lead John Boumphrey, on the council.
Dr Dunn, who has led Sunderland Software City for more than a decade, supporting more than 1,000 North East technology companies and helping to drive the development of the fast-growing sector in the region, has said his mission within the group is to ensure everything the Government does linked to digital plays a positive role across the whole of the 海角视频.
He said: 鈥淚 am privileged to be appointed to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Digital Economy Council and yesterday I attended my first meeting chaired by Oliver Dowden.
鈥淚t鈥檚 good to see what the Government has in store and learn from some of the other Digital Economy Council members, such as Ron Kalifa, discussing his review of FinTech, Juergen Maier, continuing to highlight the importance of Made Smarter, and Tabitha Goldstaub share the work of the AI Council.

The non-statutory advisory committee set-up in 2017 and made-up of independent members, offers advice on policy for supporting the digital economy. Its aim is to address issues such as digital skills, cybersecurity, data sharing and privacy, full-fibre broadband and digital government.
With the majority of the council鈥檚 28-strong team based in London, Dr Dunn鈥檚 inclusion will provide the Government with an insight into the needs and views of grassroots digital technology companies operating across 海角视频 regions.
As chair of the 海角视频 Tech Cluster Group, Dr Dunn also helps to bring 海角视频 regional technology ecosystems together to enable nationwide industry collaboration and provide a forum that represents thousands of tech companies.
