A North East company that provides video tagging software to education providers has received major investment from a US education organisation.

Newcastle’s VEO has developed software that allows teachers, project leaders, and business heads to track data and highlight important information during presentations.

The company video tagging software is already used by customers in 20 countries around the world, including the US, China, Canada, Singapore and Kazakhstan.

The value of the investment has not been disclosed but the firm said the “significant” funds will be used to fuel the company’s overseas expansion, particularly in the US education market. It will also allow the business to hire more staff within its business development team.

The investment has been made by The National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE). The organisation is based in Washington DC and has trained more than 15,000 school leaders across 27 US states.

VEO’s software will now become a central part of NCEE’s tool kit, designed to help teachers and school heads lead high-performing schools.

The software has also been used by a number of schools in the North East, including Emmanuel College, Ashington High School and Sunderland University. Its other clients include LV=, Growth Coaching International, and Singapore’s Ministry of Education.

Paul Miller, co-founder of VEO, said: “Edtech is one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s fastest growing sectors and this investment will allow us to continue to grow rapidly with it. Our software is already helping people around the world to make valuable changes to improve what they do, and we’re looking forward to working with the NCEE to bring transformational change and collaborative learning to more professionals around the United States and beyond.”
