A new round of digital bootcamps has been launched in the West Midlands aimed at equipping people with skills to work in the tech industry.

The free programme is led by the West Midlands Combined Authority in partnership with education providers and is open to the unemployed, those seeking a career change and employed people looking to gain new digital skills.

They will cover areas such as data analytics and data engineering, web development, coding and digital marketing among others.

Through a £7 million grant, the combined authority has so far piloted more than 30 digital bootcamps, training around 2,000 adults who were unemployed or in low-paid jobs with vital tech skills.

A total of £21 million funding has been made available from the Adult Education Budget to support the new bootcamps over the next three years, with a target of supporting more than 4,000 people.

Each bootcamp will be delivered by one of ten training providers in the region, with links to businesses that are providing guaranteed interviews and job opportunities.

They are Capita, Code Your Future, Generation You Employed, LEAD, Resume Foundation, School of Code, Tech Talent, The Skills Network, Twin Training International and University of Birmingham.
