New jobs are set to be created at the specialist technology arm of RMT Accountants & Business Advisors on the back of a significant national contract win.

RMT Technology has been appointed to provide a full managed-service partnership for Cyclife º£½ÇÊÓƵ, a subsidiary of the EDF Group which supports its customers in nuclear decommissioning projects and in the management of their radioactive waste.

The Newcastle company has spent the last six year providing IT support for Cyclife º£½ÇÊÓƵ at its Workington site – work which is now being significantly ramped up with RMT Technology delivering day-to-day IT support, proactive threat monitoring and long-term infrastructure planning right across their º£½ÇÊÓƵ operations.

The contract is expected to lead the creation of a number of new service desk and field engineering roles, with new staff already in place in Southampton to cover Cyclife º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s needs in the south of England. The contract value has not been disclosed.

The Gosforth-based business is aiming to use the deal to help build its position in the energy and environment sectors, as well as to demonstrate its capabilities in meeting complex needs for clients working across multiple sites.

It works on the design and dismantling of its customers’ facilities, and provides services including large component management, decontamination, waste volume reduction, material recycling, melting and incineration.

Andrew Laker, chief transformation officer at Cyclife º£½ÇÊÓƵ, said: “We are delighted to reaffirm our trusted partnership with RMT Technology as our chosen IT partner. Over the years, RMT has consistently demonstrated deep expertise and unwavering commitment to the high standards required in nuclear security.

“As we embark on a significant integration with our sister company, Cyclife Aquila, RMT’s support will be vital in ensuring seamless continuity of service across our IT landscape.
