A Black Country telecommunications firm has been bought out by a South West firm.

West Bromwich-based Midshire Telecom, which specialises in the supply of office telephone systems, business broadband and mobile services, has been acquired by 4Com.

It is the first buyout deal in Bournemouth-based 4Com's 23-year history.

The deal will see 4Com deliver new products and services including managed IT and office wi-fi services to its customer base while introducing its products and services to Midshire Telecom's existing clients.

Midshire Telecom, which was founded in 2002, will retain its brand and operate as part of the 4Com Group of companies.

Managing director Jim Callaghan said: "We are excited about our next chapter as part of 4Com.

"By leveraging 4Com's scale and resources, we can deliver added value to our own customers as well as 4Com's customers in the future.
