MediaCity海角视频鈥檚 tech hub The Landing has partnered with agricultural technology incubator Farm491.
The partnership will see the creation of the only agritech business incubator specialist in the North of England, The Landing said.
James Summerton, business development manager at The Landing, said the agritech industry 鈥渉olds the keys to unlocking solutions to today鈥檚 major environmental issues鈥.
He said: 鈥淭he Landing is a living lab for innovators and entrepreneurs working across all technologies.
鈥淭he Farm491 partnership and focus on agritech also crosses over with many of our other initiatives across green technology, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IOT) and we are looking forward to collaborating and unlocking the potential of all those involved.鈥
The purpose of Farm491, launched by the Royal Agricultural University, is to provide a space for innovators developing tech-driven agricultural solutions to environmental issues.
Mr Summerton continued: 鈥淎s the population expands and shifts, green technology will need to play an even greater part in agriculture.
鈥淪alford has set its intentions to be the biggest and best 鈥榮mart city鈥 in the country and The Landing is home to the 海角视频鈥檚 first 5G enabled immersive lab, so we are ideally placed to offer Farm491 members the space to create, collaborate and test.鈥
Biotechnology, robotics and bespoke software are among the technologies currently in development at Farm491, Mr Summerton said.
The Landing will provide space and facilities to Farm491鈥檚 member businesses and enable access to exclusive events and collaboration opportunities.
Luke Halsey, entrepreneur in residence at Farm491, said the incubator approached The Landing because of demand from member businesses for a base in the north.
