A north west online learning company has bought a New York peer for an undisclosed sum.

Learning Pool has acquired True Office Learning, a compliance technology firm which counts some of the US’s largest multinationals amongst its clients.

The US firm was spun out of the New York Stock Exchange True Office and offers online training for employees on compliance issues, using artificial intelligence to improve and tailor the effectiveness of its programmes.

“True Office Learning represents a significant step in our journey to create extraordinary outcomes for companies who invest in learning,” Learning Pool CEO Ben Betts said. “The True Office Learning team has developed the most trusted and innovative offering in the compliance space today and we couldn’t be more excited about bringing the technology and team into our Stream Learning Suite.”

The acquisition is the fifth in a series of purchases over the last five years by Learning Pool which includes another US company Remote Learner which saw the company expand its presence in the region.

It comes after a significant investment in the business by Marlin Equity Partners in summer 2021.

Learning Pool was founded in Londonderry in 2006 by Paul McIlvaney, who remains the firms Group CEO.

It provides a range of digital learning products and services for organisations including global brands like The FA, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Sky, and Swiss Re. It creates onboarding learning, rigorous compliance training, and meaningful skills development opportunities for more than 5 million people every year.
