KCom has agreed the sale of more than half of its business.

The national information communication technology arm of the Hull-headquartered firm is to be bought out by Nasstar in an undisclosed deal.

It accounted for more than 60 per cent of the turnover in the last accounts, bringing in £166 million of the £262 million revenues.

KCom will now focus purely on the expansion and operation of its regional full fibre broadband, with new owner Macquarie clawing back some of the £627 million it shelled out to buy the business back in 2019.

The ICT element, launched in the mid-Nineties is understood to have flourished through lockdown, and the deal will see 450 staff transfer - of which 75 are in Hull. It will leave KCom with a 900-strong team.

The business has several thousand customers throughout the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, including some of the largest contact centres, and works with 700 partners and resellers, providing Microsoft and Amazon solutions at scale, with specialisms in voice, connectivity and cloud use.

Our regional wholesale and retail operations in Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire will remain part of KCom and the focus of our business.

“Our team is investing £100 million to expand our regional network, through which we are making full fibre broadband available to consumers and businesses in more towns and villages across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.”
