KCOM’s new CEO joined a round-table discussion hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s gigabit-capable broadband ambitions.

The meeting was attended by chief executives of several º£½ÇÊÓƵ communications providers – including Openreach, BT, Virgin Media and Sky º£½ÇÊÓƵ - and discussed how industry can support the Government’s ambition to make gigabit-capable broadband available to the whole of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ by 2025.

New CEO at Hull broadband provider KCOM, Dale Raneberg, joined fellow industry leaders in the discussion, held at 10 Downing Street in London.

Mr Raneberg said: “The significance the Government is placing on this issue was underlined by the presence of the Prime Minister, who made it clear that he sees full fibre broadband and other forms of gigabit-capable connectivity as vital to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s future success.

“We are of course fully supportive of this ambition, and our invitation to the event was recognition of the contribution we are already making to this target through our increase in investment in full fibre broadband in East Yorkshire.

“Having a chair at the table to discuss this is testament to all our work and achievements so far and also to our recently-revealed plans to expand our network further to bring the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s best broadband to even more people across the region.

“It shows what we’re doing at KCOM really matters and truly is of national importance.”

Last year, KCOM completed its £85m Lightstream full-fibre broadband rollout in Hull.
