A Hull-based business, which began as a solo venture, is celebrating its tenth anniversary after evolving into a multimillion-pound enterprise.
Martin Johnson, a former Royal Navy serviceman, initially launched T2 in 2015, operating alone from a shared office with the aim of establishing a leadership and performance consultancy that could nurture today's workforce and tomorrow's leaders.
A decade later, the company boasts high profile clients such as Manchester United, the INEOS Grenadiers cycling team, and Specsavers, operating from its own 6,000 sqft leadership development centre in Hull city centre. The firm has witnessed substantial growth recently, including an over 150% year-on-year increase in 2021-22 when the business seized the opportunity presented by the shift to online operations during the pandemic.

The company has also made significant strides thanks to high profile collaborations with elite sports organisations. T2, now employing 15 staff members and several associates, recently purchased its headquarters building on the Hull waterfront and plans to invest approximately £1.2m into the property.
This investment aims to establish a cutting-edge leadership development centre, enhancing benefits for both clients and employees.
Founder and CEO Martin Johnson, who completed five and a half years of service in the Royal Navy aboard HMS Edinburgh and HMS Nottingham said: "Ten years ago, I walked away from my corporate job at global business consultancy Gartner with nothing but an idea and a belief that leadership development needed to be more human-centred. Our continued growth across such diverse sectors – from elite sports to global corporations – demonstrates the universal applicability of our approach.
"We don't just teach leadership theory. We help people understand who they are as human beings first, then build their authentic leadership style from there.
The firm's portfolio of clients also includes Specsavers, Reckitt, Smith+Nephew, Siemens Gamesa and TransUnion.

The company also partners with public sector bodies, including engagements with numerous fire brigades throughout the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, such as Humberside. The firm achieved its entry into elite sports via a collaboration with Sir Dave Brailsford, the performance chief responsible for numerous Olympic cycling gold medals alongside Tour de France triumphs.
Sir Dave engaged the organisation to support the INEOS Grenadiers cycling squad and subsequently Manchester United, following INEOS chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe's purchase of a substantial shareholding in the club and assumption of football operations control. Sir Dave, director of sport for INEOS, remarked: "Martin has a very structured mind and when he imparts knowledge, he does it in a very clear and concise way, which is what attracted me to T2 in the first place."
The organisation's primary business instrument is T2 Hub, an intelligent digital learning platform that has expanded to accommodate over 11,000 active users and incorporates hundreds of learning routes, productivity resources, videos and "Hubcast" material. The enterprise also operates an annual flagship T2 Leadership Retreat which has drawn distinguished speakers including Professor Steve Peters, author of The Chimp Paradox and explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Next year's programme features world-renowned chef Raymond Blanc and endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh. Mr Johnson added: "What sets T2 apart is our unique fusion of organisational performance principles with deep performance psychology.
"We're specialists in human transformation who understand that excellent performance starts with understanding yourself as a human being first, then building from that foundation. Our methodology bridges the gap between the science of high performance and the art of leading people."
