Fast-growing tech firm Huboo has said it has more than doubled its workforce over the past year as it prepares to expand operations at its Bristol HQ.

The company, whose technology enables online retailers to access and complete end-to-end fulfilment operations, said it had recruited around 340 employees since February 2021.

The more than 130% rise has taken the overall headcount of the business, which operates four warehouses in and around the Bristol area, to almost 600.

Huboo, which expanded into Europe last year by opening sites in The Netherlands and Spain, said it had predominantly filled hub manager roles in its warehouses, where it has also added fully-autonomous robots to help provide a "better working environment" for employees.

Other positions the company said it had hired for included quality assurance testers, software developers and web developers.

The business, whose head office is on Corn Street in Bristol’s Old City, said it was preparing to accommodate its growing intake by moving some of its marketing and administrative staff to the building next door, Gilbert House, for which it recently acquired the lease.

Launched by co-founders Martin Bysh and Paul Dodd from two secure storage rooms at a Safestore in Bath, Huboo said it had seen a “boom” in business in recent months.

It reported year-on-year revenue had increased by 124% between January 2021 and January 2022, when it onboarded an average of more than 50 new customers each month.
