Winners, finalists, guests and sponsors enjoyed the 2022 LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards which took place at the King Power Stadium.
The evening was hosted by BBC Travel Show presenter and Metro Ƶ technology editor Lucy Hedges, who praised the “phenomenal ingenuity and creativity happening right here on our doorstep”.
Winners included a fun Youtube channel to get kids active and a company which processes seeds which makes them easier to germinate.
There was also a special award for fingerprint recovery technology from Foster+Freeman which is already being used in the fight against crime.
This year’s Innovator of the Year Award went to Nemaura Medical – makes non-invasive wearable diagnostic devices.
There was a standing ovation for 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award, Prof Kamlesh Khunti, professor of Primary Care Diabetes & Vascular Medicine at the University of Leicester, for his years of dedication to public health including the fight against Covid-19.
He said: "Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine when I arrived as an immigrant to Leicester 50 years ago that I would get a Lifetime Achievement Award from my wonderful city."
