Re-born airline Flybe has selected a North Lincolnshire firm’s flagship product for its flight operations software.

The short-haul carrier, in new ownership following a high profile collapse at the outset of the pandemic, has chosen Bytron Aviation Systems’ Skybook.

It takes the use to nearly 100 airlines globally, providing efficiencies and digital transformation across dispatch and operations on the flight deck.

Shane Spencer, chief executive at Kirmington-based Bytron, said: “We are delighted that Flybe chose to onboard as a Skybook customer. It is fantastic to hear that they are already seeing the benefits of our software and embracing a more digital workflow. We look forward to our ongoing relationship and bringing more efficiencies in the future.”

This deal is expected to support the development of the airline as it plans to announce its routes early this year.

A new headquarters and operations centre was unveiled in Birmingham in November, with plans to create 200 jobs.

The previous operation had been based in Exeter, with brand, intellectual property, stock and equipment bought for a nominal fee from administrators by global private equity house Cyrus Capital - a shareholder in the old business.
