A technology entrepreneur has developed an app which allows users to connect to millions of Wi-Fi hotspots after getting frustrated while travelling.

Global Connect is a subscription service which gives customers unlimited time to browse the internet and has been created by Nottingham man Jordan Hurley.

Mr Hurley has reached agreements with several organisations, allowing access to their connections through the app. The idea for the product has been more than three years in the making and has launched in the last nine months.

Mr Hurley said: "I went backpacking (in south east Asia) to try and find a business idea.

"I wanted to get into the travel industry and technology.

"Everywhere I went people were going for meals and looking for Wi-Fi. There were plenty of Wi-Fi finder apps but none that connected when you got there or they didn't tell you the strength of it. We only show you Wi-Fi that is two bars of more."

Global Connect finds hotspots in places including public areas, airports, coffee shops, trains and hotels. It is a pay-as-you go service where users pay £9.99 for one month.

The company, which has also partnered with flight search and comparison website Netflights, says it can provide its services in 180 countries and customers will not need to undergo any added registrations or costs.
