Nominations for the 2023 LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards are well and truly open.

The 2023 ceremony takes place at the National Space Centre, in Leicester, on February 16, and the – just over six weeks away. The awards will be part of the fifth annual Leicestershire Innovation Festival taking place next February.

Since its launch the awards have become a popular addition to the city and county’s business calendar with a long list of distinguished and up-and-coming tech businesses and innovators picking up recognition.

, for instance, saw accolades for Loughborough-based Nemaura Medical, which makes non-invasive wearable diagnostic devices, as well as hydrogen fuel cell developer Intelligent Energy, which is also based in Loughborough.

There were also awards for LENKÈ Space & Water Solutions, which is based at Space Park Leicester, and uses space data to look at water coverage in different parts of the world to improve supplies where fresh water is scarce.

The 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award went to Prof Kamlesh Khunti, professor of Primary Care Diabetes & Vascular Medicine at the University of Leicester – in recognition of his dedication to helping people with diabetes and helping drive research into the impact of Covid-19 at the start of the pandemic.
