EE launches 5G network in 21 new towns and cities

The company has now brought its 5G network to a total of 71 locations

As well as switching on the first 5G sites in new cities and large towns, EE has also brought 5G to more high footfall places

EE has switched on 5G in 21 new towns and cities across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

The latest move by the mobile network operator means 5G is now available in 71 locations across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ - more places than any other operator.

The new towns and cities to benefit from 5G include Rugeley, Birkenhead, Rotherham, as well as Bath, Bransholme, Bury, Chelmsford and Chesnut in Hertfordshire.

Other locations in England include Clevedon, Dartford, Dinnington, Loughborough, Loughton, North Shields, South Shields, Rochester, Swadlincote, Staines and Waltham Cross as well as Clydebank and Motherwell in Scotland.

The company, part of BT Group, was the first operator to launch 5G coverage in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ in May 2019 and has been expanding its network daily.

As well as switching on the first 5G sites in new cities and large towns, EE has also brought 5G to more high footfall places, including Bath’s Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge, London Bridge and London’s Thornton Heath railway station.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s consumer division, said: "We have 5G coverage in more places than any other operator, and remain focused on connecting even more towns and cities in 2020 and beyond to keep our customers connected in the busiest places."

The launch of 5G in Rugeley, Staffordshire, follows a roll-out in Lichfield - also in Staffordshire - last year, making it the second place in the county to receive 5G.
