The North East's tech scene has received a double boost with new job numbers and fresh investment into the region.

The region took centre stage at London Tech Week when outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May praised Sunderland's Saggezza for its investment in the North East.

The company, which headquartered in the US with two additional offices in India, plans to invest a further £1m into its º£½ÇÊÓƵ operations over the next year following a string of major contract wins.

It has already recruited 10 highly skilled employees this year and hopes to recruit a further 70 over the next 12 months, tripling its headcount.

That led to Saggezza being one of 13 business praised by Mrs May at the start of London Tech Week for making the º£½ÇÊÓƵ "one of the best places in the world to start and grow a tech business.

Martin Williams, º£½ÇÊÓƵ managing director of Saggezza, said: "The º£½ÇÊÓƵ is home to some of the world’s most innovative and fastest-growing tech businesses, and for Saggezza to be named among them, is testament to the fantastic work put in by everyone at the company over the last few years.

"As a company, we’ve grown rapidly over the last 12 months, securing a number of new clients and continuing to grow our headcount.  However, over the next year, we plan to really capitalise on this by tripling our headcount and continuing to expand our service offering.  It’s a really exciting time for our staff and everyone involved with the company."

Saggezza is recruiting for a range of roles in the North East including java developers, technical recruiters, software consultants, software testers, analysts, GMC developers and .Net C# developers.
