A Derby firm which provides photo and video technology to some of the world’s most popular visitor attractions has launched a new product that it claims will allow people to capture spectacular virtual “selfies”.

Picsolve, which is based in Victoria Way, on Pride Park, has lifted the lid on its Epic Selfie technology, which virtually places visitors into “fantastic new worlds or iconic destinations”.

According to the firm, whose key clients include Merlin Entertainments, Epic Selfie can take pictures of people and then transport them “into a world beyond the realms of possibility”.

Examples include being pictured overlooking the Shanghai skyline or submerged in an “underwater adventure”.

Epic Selfie is an evolution of Picsolve’s panoramic Super Selfie technology, which it launched last year in partnership with Panora.me.

According to the firm, Epic Selfie can create a “highly shareable” bite-size video that begins with a selfie and dramatically zooms out to reveal a panoramic backdrop.

The technology has already caught the eye of Merlin Entertainments, which is set to install Epic Selfie at one of its London attractions this summer.

The technology will also be showcased at the upcoming IAAPA Expo Asia in Shanghai. At the event, which runs from June 11 to 14, a live demo of the Epic Selfie will be on show at Picsolve’s stand, where visitors will be able to try it out first hand.
