Data centre software firm proves its global credentials with new product

EkkoSoft Critical has already saved customers about £2 million

Dean Boyle, one of the founders of EkkoSense

A firm at the heart of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's multi-billion-pound data centre industry has "cemented" its position on the global stage after launching its latest product.

EkkoSense, based at the University of Nottingham Innovation Park, produces cloud software that monitors the efficiency of data centres, which house IT infrastructure and equipment.

The company's systems also help manage and optimise energy usage within the centres and identify issues such as heating.

Thermal issues in particular account for about 30 percent of outages and EkkoSense estimates its EkkoSoft Critical software has already saved customers more than £2 million in energy costs.

Dean Boyle, who founded the company in 2013 alongside Dr Stuart Redshaw, said: "I’m really proud of how far we’ve come. What began as just the two of us is now a 40-strong team competing directly with some of the world’s largest data centre specialists.

“These are multi-billion-pound global businesses and here we are, in an innovation park in Nottingham, competing and winning business, and that’s down to the calibre of our people and the quality of the systems we produce.”

The º£½ÇÊÓƵ data centre industry is currently estimated to be worth $105 billion, with this expected to grow to more than $135bn by 2025.

The company’s latest software release has just been launched at the Datacloud Global Congress in Monaco, the biggest data centre conference in Europe.
