Hull communications specialist Cobus has laid out ambitious growth plans as it sets its sights on connecting more customers on a national scale.
The firm, headquartered in Hull, already has clients across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, from Scotland down to Hastings on the southeast coast.
A quarter of Cobus’ customers are now based outside of Hull – a figure which has risen significantly in the last few years – with the business now looking to further increase this trend.
Emma Waudby, sales and marketing manager at Cobus, said: “When I joined Cobus nearly four years ago, 82 per cent of our business was done in and around the Hull area.
“Today, that number is 75 per cent, so it is changing. The majority of our business will of course always be here in Hull, but there is a big market out there and we are making the most of our potential opportunities by expanding our reach and connections further afield and creating new partnerships to continue to drive the business forward.”
Cobus Communications is one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s leading independent providers of communications services.
Specialising in telephony and internet services, business mobiles, CCTV and door access control systems, Cobus has had an established and trusted reputation in Hull since 1991.
Working closely alongside local broadband provider KCOM as a strategic wholesale partner since its inception, Ms Waudby said the partnership between the two businesses had reaped rewards for both firms.

She added: “We have worked with KCOM during its highly successful fibre broadband rollout.
“Changes to technology and the telecoms landscape over the last few years has been enormous, and we have had to adapt to keep up with the changing market.
“However, it has allowed us to research and introduce new and exciting technologies, all designed with the customer in mind.
“This technology has also seen an increase in the availability, and successful implementation, of telephony services such as VoIP & hosted which has brought further business savings and options for the savvy business owner out there.”
As part of its corporate strategy, Cobus has recruited a new sales team as it targets expansion across the country, implementing a new KPI and bonus structure to drive forward team goals and their overall aims for success.
The firm has also invested heavily in a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, enabling it to handle clients across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, and beyond, from a single source and improving the delivery of services and customer support whilst ensuring huge efficiency savings across all aspects of the business.
Michael Smith, managing director at Cobus, said: “We have spent a lot of time making sure everything is right for us to grow, and we are now building on our strong foundations as our plan for the forthcoming year is to drive growth exponentially with acquisitions being one area of consideration.
