CityFleet swoops for Argyle Taxis and pledges to create new North West jobs

It's a seven-figure deal and CityFleet's largest move into the private hire market outside of London

CityFleet Networks buys Argyle Satellite Taxis

A Merseyside taxi firm has been bought by a national transport giant, which now promises to create more jobs for the region.

The acquisition of Argyle Satellite Ltd by CityFleet Networks is a seven-figure deal, and the London firm said an investment in new technology to improve customer experience and upgrade services is now "top of the agenda".

CityFleet, which also provides coach hire, executive travel and specialist transport services, said the news represents its largest move into the private hire vehicle market outside of London.

The firm also said it would now work to create jobs for local people and increase revenues in the Merseyside region and beyond.

Karen Long, ComCab Liverpool’s general manager said: “This deal between CityFleet Networks and Argyle Satellite presents us with a strong brand, a robust business, and a great opportunity to grow and invest in an area that is very close to our hearts, having already acquired Mersey Cabs, which is now ComCab Liverpool.

"I joined the company almost 30 years ago, CityFleet Networks acquired MerseyCabs in 2008 and so I have also seen first-hand the benefits that a merger can have on a company in this sector.”

CityFleet claims to be one of the largest point-to-point transport companies in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, also running computer cab firms in Aberdeen and London.

In terms of Argyle Satellite, CityFleet hopes to develop it "as a hub for further expansion", with improvements in technology, also branching out into wider coverage areas, making it easier for commuters to book airport transfers from the Liverpool and Wirral regions.
