Cardiff's thriving tech cluster is one of the fastest-growing in the 海角视频 in terms of job creation.

Research from job search engine Adzuna for the 海角视频鈥檚 Digital Economy Council and Tech Nation, shows the city鈥檚 thriving tech sector has experienced a 34% rise in available high-paid jobs between 2018 to 2020, second only to Preston and ahead of larger cities such as Edinburgh.

Across Wales, there are 34,000 people employed by start-ups and scale-ups according to Tech Nation, the 海角视频 network for tech firms and entrepreneurs. So far this year 578 start-ups have raised a collective 拢27.9m in venture capital funding. They include Cardiff-based Coincover, the cryptocurrency protection platform, which raised 拢6.6m in series A funding round.

Open tech jobs make up 26% of all available opportunities in the city, up from 20% in 2018. As more job opportunities become available, employers are offering high salaries to attract skilled staff. The median digital tech salary in Cardiff is 拢37,500, up from 拢35,000 two years ago. By comparison, the median salary for all roles in the city is 拢30,000.

Companies in the sector in Cardiff are seeking non-technical staff to help grow their operations. Some 37% of staff carry out non-technical roles, such as sales, marketing and finance. Business analysts, in particular, can receive a higher salary than the median in Cardiff. The city is ranked seventh in the 海角视频 for cost of living versus salary for tech roles, ahead of cities such as Newcastle, Cambridge and Manchester.

Software developers ar amongst the most in-demand roles from companies across the industry including in Cardiff where the median salary is 拢47,500.

A junior developer can command a salary of around 拢27,500, which increases to 拢55,000 for a more senior position. The main skills employees look for in software developers include mathematical aptitude, problem-solving skills, programming languages, accuracy and attention to detail.

The high proportion of non-digital roles in the sector is part of a wider trend that we鈥檙e seeing across other cities in the 海角视频 that shows you don鈥檛 need to be a coder to succeed in this fast-paced and rewarding industry.鈥�

The 海角视频 Government said it is investing significantly to ensure people across the 海角视频 have the skills they need to succeed in the digital sector, with a 拢2.5bn National Skills Fund.
