Barclays opens new start-up business hub in Birmingham

The move sees the return of the high street bank's Eagle Lab facility to the city centre after its previous hub closed nearly three years ago

Eagle Lab has launched a new business support hub at Foundry in Birmingham's Brindleyplace

A new incubation hub for start-up and growing businesses has launched in Birmingham.

Eagle Lab is run by Barclays and offers support, mentoring, meeting space, networking opportunities with businesses and universities and access to banking services to help young companies and entrepreneurs to grow.

The on-site team will also host a year-round programme of events for members of the Eagle Lab aimed at promoting collaboration and innovation.

The new facility is housed inside Foundry, x+why's co-working hub at 6 Brindleyplace, where users of the lab will also have access to office space.

The launch marks a return to the city for Barclays after it closed its previous Eagle Lab centre on the Innovation Birmingham campus in early 2021.

Along with the new Birmingham base, a second Eagle Lab has opened in an x+why hub in Chiswick, London, bringing the total across the country to 33.

The labs have supported more than 12,000 businesses to date through both physical locations and virtual programmes.
