Insurance giant Aviva has been supporting Bristol students with the launch of its new Technology Work Placement scheme.
The FTSE 100 company offereded week-long placements for year 10 and year 11 students at its Bristol site. The placement allowed students to immerse themselves in working life at Aviva, where they explored roles across its technology department and learnt skills in communication, teamwork, project work and delivering tasks against a deadline.
Students also participated in various workshops on CV writing, interview preparation and protecting their health and wellbeing, with all workshops designed to equip them with key skills to support their future careers.
Aarav, a student undertaking the placement at Aviva Bristol, said: "The week was a phenomenal experience that has developed my confidence, creativity and communication skills, all whilst improving my knowledge of business."

Karthik, a fellow student in Bristol, added: “The placement was excellent exposure to real life work opportunities, which was demonstrated and guided by an amazing work placement site lead.â€
Anne Carrett, a business analyst at Aviva and Bristol site lead, said: “I found the week hugely enjoyable. To see the students, grow in confidence and knowledge as the week progressed was really rewarding. None of the students had an awareness of the roles within IT and Change prior to the week, so for them to come away from the week wanting to consider those roles as future careers was a fantastic win for us.â€

Across the week, we've seen some brilliant project work and had heart-warming feedback from students undertaking the placement that they now feel optimistic about their future, both in the workplace and beyond."
