More than 11,000 control room staff joined a global campaign run by Hull tech firm APD Communications to celebrate their life-saving work.

International Control Room Week, held for the second time from October 21 to 27, was supported by fire, ambulance, police, coastguard and airport staff across the country.

The campaign week highlighted the critical role played by the control room teams which keep people safe and deal with traumatic incidents on a daily basis.

In the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, all but two police forces joined International Control Room Week, as did all 11 º£½ÇÊÓƵ Coastguard control rooms.

The week-long campaign is organised by Hull-based APD, which supplies life-saving software to emergency services organisations across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and supports critical control operations internationally.

Rhiannon Beeson, APD’s commercial director, said: “International Control Room Week has been a wonderful celebration of the amazing work of teams in critical control operations across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and far beyond.

“It’s been brilliant to see so many emergency services and critical control operations and their teams getting fully on board. Although this is only the second year, the week has already become a fixture in the calendar and a highlight of the year for the control rooms community.

“Control room employees are the unseen frontline of emergency services and critical control operations that keep us all safe and secure.
