Online giant Amazon has today announced it will create 2,000 new º£½ÇÊÓƵ jobs by the end of the year in a move that will take its total permanent workforce to almost 30,000.

It's been described by Chancellor Philip Hammond as a "vote of confidence" in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ economy, who also claimed it will help the country continue to lead the "technological revolution".

As well as London, the recruitment drive will stretch to various regions, with the North West, South East and Scotland among those listed in Wednesday's announcement.

In the North West specifically, more than 90 jobs are available for professionals in fields such as finance, IT, safety and engineering.

They will be at the firm's operations facilities across Altrincham, Bolton, Warrington, Preston, Stoke and Manchester. A sortation site in St Helens is also due to open in September.

Welcoming the news, Mr Hammond said: “Today’s announcement from Amazon is a clear vote of confidence in the British economy.
