Aerospace parts manufacturer Ontic has extended its partnership with US tech giant Honeywell after the firms agreed a fresh licensing deal.
Gloucestershire-based Ontic, which supplies defence and commercial organisations, will deliver and provide maintenance for a line of communications systems known as the Multi-Channel SATCOM (MCS).
The satellite technology is designed to provide continuous worldwide communications between an aircraft’s cockpit and air traffic.
The agreement comes after Ontic secured three licensing agreements with Honeywell in March, to deliver a range of radar systems and navigation and communication product lines.
Ontic, which has bases in Cheltenham and Staverton, said the MCS system was compatible with several commercial and business aviation aircraft types it currently supports. The firm said the repair and upgrade operations would be transitioned to its US site in Chatsworth, California, which specialises in electronics repair, subject to customary closing conditions.
Gareth Blackbird, vice president and chief commercial officer at Ontic, said: “We’re pleased to extend our partnership with Honeywell with this new licence which will be an exciting expansion to our existing operations. This adds to our experience with highly complex electronic systems at Chatsworth, further securing Ontic as the go-to partner to ensure established aircraft continue to have a strong, reliable and progressive supply chain for repairs and upgrades.”
In January, Ontic heralded 2022 as a “record-breaking” year for the firm, during which it reached 13 exclusive licensing agreements.
