Nominations are open for the 2024 LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards. The annual awards – which are also supported by LeicestershireLive sister publication BusinessLive – recognise the brightest, most creative businesses when it comes to innovation, R&D and technical accomplishments.

They are working in the relevant sectors or disciplines and the awards event on Thursday, February 15, 2024, will bring to a close the 2024 Leicestershire Innovation Festival.

In recent years awards have been presented for innovations in everything from space tech and research, to food and drink manufacturing, manufacturing in general and best university student innovation.

Past winners have included Loughborough-based Nemaura, a medical technology company that makes non-invasive wearable diagnostic devices.

Another previous winner was Richard Freeman, of Coalville-based Zeeko, which builds precision polishing machines for optics and other complex surfaces.

In 2019 machinery made by Zeeko was used to help build two cameras which captured fresh pictures of the July 20, 1969, Moon landing site.
