Celebrating the future of apprenticeships and employment in our region, we've created a brand new event which celebrates people from our region - the North West Apprenticeship Awards.

The North West Apprenticeship Awards are a celebration of the best and brightest young learners as well as the people who are helping them to succeed.

They are your chance to give an outstanding apprentice a big pat on the back for their hard-earned achievements or thank a business for backing fresh talent.

We want to hear from apprentices across the North West as well as those offering apprenticeships - but be quick, nominations close on Thursday, January 5 so get your entry ready today.

The inaugural awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 9 at HOST Social, MediaCityº£½ÇÊÓÆµ, Salford. It'll be a night to remember and one you don't want to miss. Find out more .

Not only is a great evening of celebration, with delicious food and exciting awards, it's the perfect spot to network - there'll be fresh talent and established employers sitting at every seat.

Below are the various awards which apprentices and employers can win.

North West Apprenticeship Awards categories:

Apprentice of the Year - Health, Wellbeing and Care

Judges will be looking for entries which showcase the impact an apprentice has had on the organisation they work for, as well as evidence of personal self-development and progression. Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

This category can include but is not limited to: pharmacy, dental nursing, maternity support, social work, care work, employment related services, youth work, sport and coaching, fitness.

Apprentice of the Year - Construction and Property Industries

Judges will be looking for entries which showcase the impact an apprentice has had on the organisation they work for, as well as evidence of personal self-development and progression. Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

The apprentice must currently be an Intermediate Apprentice (Level 2), an Advanced Apprentice (Level 3) or be completing a Higher Apprenticeship.

The majority of the employer’s business must be based within the North West. You must be able to clearly demonstrate your/ the apprentice’s contribution to the workplace. If apprentices are submitting the entry directly, they must be able to provide a 150 word supporting reference from their employer.

Apprentice of the Year - Retail, Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

Judges will be looking for entries which showcase the impact an apprentice has had on the organisation they work for, as well as evidence of personal self-development and progression. Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

Apprentice of the Year - Engineering and Manufacturing

Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

The apprentice must currently be an Intermediate Apprentice (Level 2), an Advanced Apprentice (Level 3) or be completing a Higher Apprenticeship.

You must be able to clearly demonstrate your/ the apprentice’s contribution to the workplace. If apprentices are submitting the entry directly, they must be able to provide a 150 word supporting reference from their employer.

This category can include but is not limited to: accountancy / taxation, credit controller / debt collection, legal, compliance / risk, conveyancing, financial services, insurance, audit, mortgage adviser, motor finance, payroll administrator, probate technician, professional economist, relationship manager (banking), pensions, advertising, sales, procurement and supply, marketing, events, estate agent, public relations.

Apprentice of the Year - Tech, Digital and Creative

Judges will be looking for entries which showcase the impact an apprentice has had on the organisation they work for, as well as evidence of personal self-development and progression.

Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

Apprentice of the Year - Public Services and Education

Judges will be looking for entries which showcase the impact an apprentice has had on the organisation they work for, as well as evidence of personal self-development and progression. Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship.

This category can include but is not limited to: fire and ambulance services, waste management, social services, youth work, supported housing and policing, teacher, teaching assistant, playwork, learning and development.

Small Employer of the Year (1-50)

Medium Employer of the Year (51-249)

Judges will be looking for training providers who can demonstrate a real commitment to the development of individual apprentices, relationships with business and the promotion of work undertaken. They will also be interested in the training provider’s culture of encouraging apprenticeship development and celebrating the achievement of apprentices.

Evidence of solid results of apprenticeship growth and development and future plans for continued development is essential.

North West Apprentice of the Year will be chosen by the judges from the Apprentice of the Year category winners.
