The combination of an ageing population and an ageing workforce is currently placing a huge demand on the health and social care sector.

The need to attract young talent and retain skilled, experienced team members continues to pose a key challenge for many public and private sector organisations, demanding an increase in the talent pipeline.

The University of Salford’s accredited apprenticeship programmes in Nursing, Allied and Public Health are designed to meet these sector-wide challenges head on, as well as the needs of your organisation.

Apprentices can upskill at every stage, from new starters and junior team members to experienced health and social care professionals looking to take the next step.

Expert teaching and cutting-edge facilities

Apprenticeships are a cost-effective training solution that not only upskills employees to improve patient-centred care, but also helps organisations to attract new talent and retain skilled team members.

By choosing apprenticeships, healthcare providers across the North West are providing exceptional levels of care to service users, strengthening their teams and creating paths for career progression that, due to the Apprenticeship Levy, could be fully or 95% funded by the government.

According to government statistics, 80% of employers have seen a significant increase in employee retention due to apprenticeships, and 92% believe apprenticeships lead to a more motivated and satisfied workforce.

Karen Idle, Care Home Group Service Director, said: “We decided to join the scheme to develop the staff who were looking for a nursing career but couldn’t go to university full time. Sarah [Nursing Associate apprentice] has developed with other health professionals and grown in her confidence. It’s been amazing. I wouldn’t look back.”
