In just the past 18 months, Acute Business Advisory has in tax relief - and now it's here to help the north east get the same great savings.
The specialises in the specific tax relief incentives on offer from the government which many businesses can claim. Knowing the ins-and-outs of the scheme so it can pick up the different eligible aspects of its clients' projects, the company is a reliable and genuine help in an often unclear process.
Statistics show that the north east is vastly under claiming the R&D government incentive. While SMEs in London claim around 28% of what's on offer, the north east only claims less than 3%. It is believe that it's because the understanding of eligibility is limited by people believing it is only for those in the science or pharmaceutical industry - something that isn't the case.
It’s armed with this knowledge that Emma and the team are on a mission to change this and help businesses claim what they are entitled to, bringing much needed investment back into the area.

Bringing the success story back to Whitby
Director Emma Allen grew up in Whitby and started her accountancy career at Harrison’s Garage in Whitby at the young age of 16.
Though she moved away to Newbury in Berkshire when she was 20, she has always kept a strong connection with the north east where family members and friends still live. Several times a year, now with her own family, she makes visits back to region to enjoy the those aspects which make the north east as great as it is - enjoying walks on the beach, moors and of course, enjoying proper fish and chips.
Following her move, she continued working up the ladder in different industries, landing her first executive director and board role at the age of 32. In 2015, she moved up to the midlands, one for which she says is to slowly move her southern husband up the country back towards the north east.
Her career continued to excel, with Emma gaining a reputation for been hard working, committed and a real go-getter who always gets the job done. She made strong partnerships with many investment and private equity firms who quickly made her their first point of call for help on numerous business projects.

With this experience and having held several finance director roles, Emma decided to start her own firm, , with her much trusted and knowledgeable friend, Lee Whittaker, to help SMEs receive what they are rightfully allowed to claim.
At its office in Pride Park, Derby, Acute Business Advisory deals with R&D (research and development) and Capital Allowances tax relief claims. It is opening a brand new office in Whitby next month to get the north east involved, hoping to see local business owners claim back large amounts of money from HMRC for their projects.
