The Growth Hub, from the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP, has supported a range of businesses over the course of the ongoing pandemic. One of these is Palm Life, which produces sustainable tableware from natural palm leaves which are sold at festivals and exhibitions.
Covid-19鈥檚 drastic hit to the events industry has negatively impacted the business. Adil Delwar, the CEO, explained: 鈥淭here are barely any events going on so there is less of a need for my products, I鈥檓 trying to see how I can revive my business.鈥
Adil plans for Palm Life to develop new eco-friendly products, specifically for takeaway businesses as their demand has increased since the beginning of the pandemic. He contacted the Growth Hub for business support and funding to develop new products.
The Growth Hub team consists of 21 expert advisors, including SFEDI accredited business advisors, sector specialists, skills brokers, and apprenticeship advisors. The range of specialisms and expertise within the team covers any issue a business may be facing and provides tailored support and guidance.
Silvia Gaplovska, the Growth Hub鈥檚 Innovation Specialist, proposed a range of funding programmes to Adil, including the use of 鈥橧nnovation Vouchers鈥 and the 鈥橞usiness Growth Programme 2鈥. She also referred Adil to Vernon Hogg, the Growth Hub's Access to Finance Specialist, who recommended some loan and grant schemes that would be available him.
Adil also spoke to Craig O鈥橠onnell, the Growth Hub's Food and Drink Sector Specialist, Adil said: 鈥淐raig is connecting me to his clients. He is finding people in the catering and hospitality industry that will benefit from my products.鈥
