A North East recruitment company has launched an exciting leadership development programme to help businesses and employees in the region.
Most companies know that a successful workforce isn't just about hiring the right people but also about keeping them. A massive 94% of employees say they would stay with an organisation for longer if it invested in their careers.
That's why created its 'Future Leader Peer Groups' initiative to bolster management teams in the North East with the skills and support they need.
The firm was founded more than 10 years ago and has helped many businesses by sourcing exceptional talent and sharing its wealth of experience.
It knows that learning management skills through traditional teaching methods can be difficult so the programme focuses on collaborative problem-solving as the core principle of its approach.
They say two heads are better than one - so Jackson Hogg brings together 12.
Management skills
Diligent workers are promoted to management roles all the time. While this is a brilliant opportunity for them and they can prove their technical knowledge, they may not actually have the skills required to manage a team effectively.
This ‘accidental management’ effect means that there’s a risk of turnover of unsupported teams and sub-optimal performance.
But studies have shown that utilising a peer group is a reliable approach to enhancing individuals' abilities through a blend of coaching and mentorship. It means new leaders can connect with fellow business people, exchange knowledge and gain other perspectives in a collaborative and supportive environment where valuable development can thrive.
12 heads are better than one
This is where Jackson Hogg's Future Leader Peer Groups initiative comes in.
Managers from various sectors and companies are carefully chosen to share their knowledge and experiences. They serve as both mentees and mentors, guided by an expert professional coach who chairs the group.
This approach brings two main benefits. The coach has the necessary knowledge to teach, guide and motivate individuals to discover solutions on their own, while the mentors bring different backgrounds and experiences which, when combined together, can create a broader approach to problem-solving that members can then take back to the workplace.
The real-time sessions focus on the current issues that any of the members may be struggling with, with leaders leaving each session with a helpful answer, idea or solution. This means members are not only constantly building on the foundations of their management skills, but they can see an immediate impact on their decision-making.
And unlike a company's internal training programme or support network, this 'psychologically safe space' offers the freedom to be completely honest and transparent.
Limitless opportunities
86% of organisations report that they have more than recouped the investment, with seven out of 10 individuals who seeing benefits such as improved work performance, relationships, and communication skills.
The Future Leader Peer Groups sessions have followed in suit, having already proved a huge success with businesses across the North East. In fact, Jackson Hogg has seen 100% retention in its initiative with all attendees renewing their membership after a year.
There are even reports of companies waiting for multiple future cohorts to be set up so that they can enrol many employees on the initiative. Thankfully, taster sessions are held every six weeks so new members are joining and cohorts forming all the time.
You can find out for yourself at the next session on Thursday, May 25 - sign up .
