Wrexham's Tomlinsons Dairies sparks concerns over future after deliveries don't arrive

The company employs nearly 200 workers at its large dairy in North Wales

Tomlinsons Dairies in North Wales has sparked concerns over its future after milk deliveries failed to arrive this morning and farmers told they were not accepting supplies.

The dairy employs around 200 workers at Minera, near Wrexham, and supplies stores across Wales and into England. It signed a major deal with supermarket giant Sainsbury's two years ago.

But Business Live has been told that a number of independent shops in North Wales have not received deliveries this morning - and the business has failed to answer calls to the dairy.

Farmers' unions are also seeking "clarification" amid reports that the site in Minera is not accepting milk deliveries from farmers.

Malcolm Jones, of The Orchard in Llandudno, said: "Tomlinsons have been our suppliers for some time now and always been reliable.

"But this morning the milk didn't arrive. I have been phoning the company but no one is answering, we don't know what is going on."

Tomlinson’s was established in 1983, when brothers Philip and John Tomlinson decided to diversify into liquid milk processing on their family farm in North Wales.
