Wilko products go on sale at The Range as it brings brand into its º£½ÇÊÓƵ stores

The Wilko brand, website and intellectual property was bought by The Range for £5m

The Range bought the Wilko brand for £5 million

Products bearing Wilko labels will return to the high street today as The Range brings the brand into its º£½ÇÊÓƵ stores.

Notts-based Wilko shut its last shop earlier this month after collapsing into administration in August. The 93-year-old discount retailer, which started out in Leicester, had 400 º£½ÇÊÓƵ stores and 12,500 staff when it went under.

A number of its store sites have been taken over by competitors such as Poundland, B&M and Pepco and the Wilko brand, website and intellectual property was bought by rival The Range for £5 million.

The Range is launching Wilko bays selling branded home, garden, pet and lifestyle products across its 210 stores.

It will also stock the products online after purchasing the wilko.com website.

Alex Simpkin, chief executive of The Range, said: “Wilko is a much-loved and trusted º£½ÇÊÓƵ brand and it was important to us to allow it to live on.

“We noticed Wilko customers were really disappointed to see stores closed, especially when it seemed they would no longer be able to buy their favourite products.

“We have worked hard and at pace to ensure they still have access to their favourite lines by bringing them into our own stores and online at wilko.com within a matter of weeks.”
