Warwickshire cottage combines a country feel with contemporary looks

An architect has redesigned this country cottage to combine country feel with contemporary looks, writes Alison Jones

This lovely cottage property in the heart of a stone’s throw away from some lovely pubs.

The three-bedroom detached Woodbine Cottage is in Ludlows Lane, Little Shrewley, and has been extended and architecturally re-designed.

It has a traditional oak porch making a charming introduction and a spacious entrance hall with natural stone floor and guest cloakroom.

In the kitchen there are attractive units complemented by woodblock-effect worktops. With its central island, it has plenty of space for cooking and socialising. Appliances include a brand new integrated dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric oven and hob. French doors to one side of the room lead out to the patio and garden.

The designer has built in a large utility cupboard in the entrance hall that easily accommodates a washing machine and tumble dryer.

In the living room an open fire with reclaimed oak beam mantle makes a real focal point. It can be fitted with a log burner, an open fire or filled with ornaments and floors.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms. The master has built-in wardrobes, wide windows that overlook fields to the front and is served by an en suite with shower cubicle, basin and toilet.

The two other can easily fit double beds and wardrobes.
