The º£½ÇÊÓƵ's biggest campsite has delayed its opening date in a bid to help slow the spread of coronavirus.

The sprawling Shell Island site near Harlech in Gwynedd was due to open its gates this Friday.

But it has taken the "difficult decision" to move the opening of the 800 pitch site back to April 9.

Directors wrote on Facebook: "It is with regret that Shell Island has decided to delay the current opening date.

"This is not a decision as a family business that we have taken lightly, but we must think about the wellbeing of our families, our staff and you our customers but also the health and wellbeing of others in the local community.

"We must all do what we can to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

"If our actions help to keep one person to stay fit and healthy, it’s worth it.

"We will stop taking bookings online as from today until Friday 1st May and when we re-open, we will work on a pay on arrival basis up until 1st May."
