A Cornish high street is feeling the pinch after being dealt a trio of blows.

Truro's centre will soon lose two major retailers - with Next announcing its intention to relocate and Jack Wills confirming it will close its store next month.

how businesses feared that increased parking charges will now deter shoppers from visiting the city.

The retailer said it was no longer able to trade profitably at its current store on Pydar Street but it is hoping to open a new store at a proposed retail park, which has not yet received planning permission.

In a statement, the company said: "After over 30 years of trading in Truro town centre, we will cease trading in January 2021.

"Despite our disappointment that we are no longer able to trade profitably at our store in Truro town centre, we do hope to maintain a presence in Truro and have signed an agreement to lease a store at the proposed Hendra Retail Park in the Threemilestone area.
