A multi-award winning fine dining restaurant in Derby has changed hands following the retirement of its owners.

For the past 16 years, Kathryn and Jonathan Hobson have run Darleys, which overlooks the River Derwent, at Darley Abbey Mills.

Since the couple took over the establishment, it has become well known for the quality of its food and service, becoming a multiple winner of the Restaurant of the Year title at the annual Derby Food and Drink Awards.

However, the couple have this week issued a joint statement, which reveals that they have decided to retire and have already sold the business on to a “great local family team”.

According to the statement, despite the sale it will be business as usual at the restaurant, which is currently ranked second in the list of best fine dining restaurants in the city on TripAdvisor.

The joint statement reads: “After 16 great years as the owners of Darleys we have decided to retire and have sold the restaurant to a great local family team.

“The restaurant will continue in the same style of service and food but with some new exciting ideas and twists in the new year.
