Supermarket giant Tesco is the latest big-name brand to sign up for a mini retail park in Stoke-on-Trent.

Muller Property Group has confirmed that a Tesco Express store will occupy a 3,500 sq ft retail unit at the development off High Street, Sandyford.

It will join - which is opening a drive-thru at the site - and two other occupiers which are yet to be announced.

Colin Muller, chief executive of Muller said: "We are delighted with the response from big brand retailers to this development and the opportunity it gives us to deliver high- quality units for the local area.

"We identified this site as having significant development potential in 2006. A number of historic planning permissions were secured for a range of industrial uses for which end users weren't forthcoming, so we decided to revisit a different mix of uses.

"We worked closely with the local community and carried out an extensive consultation exercise which resulted in us gaining the support of the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association and that ultimately resulted in a recommendation for approval in 2018."

Work on the site recently started with the completion of Costa expected in November this year.
