Fashion chain Superdry is set to open its first high street boutique store in Cheltenham.

The global retailer, whose head office is based in the Gloucestershire town, will open its new outlet at 102-104 The Promenade on December 1.

The brand, which also has Cheltenham store in Clarence Street, will use its new Grade II-listed outlet to showcase a curated selection of men’s and women’s apparel from its Superdry Studios and Sport Performance ranges.

The company said garments from its Studio's range are made using fibres with a “lighter environmental footprint” such as organic cotton, hemp, yak and Tencel, which is derived from the wood pulp of trees from renewable woodland grown on specialised tree farms. The new store will also stock items from the brand’s range of recycled clothing.

On November 1 Superdry announced new sustainability targets, including a commitment to convert 65% of its cotton and non-cotton garments to low impact or recyclable alternatives by 2025, with 100% of cotton moving to organic by 2030.

The firm also recently announced a partnership with fellow Gloucestershire business Versarien, an advanced engineering materials company, to produce clothing with lower environmental impact using the material graphene.

Superdry’s new store follows the opening of its new flagship store in Oxford Street, London on November 10, a base for the company’s wholesale showroom and its influencer programme.

In its latest trading statement, Superdry chief executive Julian Dunkerton said the company was “recovering well” from the disruption of the pandemic.
