Stunning 1930 home is given modern makeover

A modern wine store is one of the highlights in this Kidderminster house, which has had a thorough makeover

You’d always find singer Jona Lewie in the kitchen at parties, according to his 1980 hit.

And you wouldn’t blame him if it was this kitchen, because in one corner is a contemporary wine storage room set behind glazed double doors which show off the extensive wine storage facilities inside.

The creation of this unusual store has been one part of a of Fairmile House in Whitehall Road, Kidderminster.

It was originally built by Thomas Vale around 1930 and stands in the middle of a plot that extends to almost three quarters of an acre, which means there is plenty of privacy and views out to the gardens and grounds all round.

The makeover has seen Villeroy & Boch suites and sanitary wear installed in the bathrooms, Sharp furniture fitted in the bedrooms and a custom-built breakfast kitchen. There is also a high spec wi-fi music system and underfloor heating.

Accommodation is arranged over three floors.

On the ground floor, the impressive entrance hall has a tiled floor. It opens into a central reception hall with strip-boarded wooden floor, open fireplace and guest cloakroom plus access to the cellar.

There are four reception rooms, including a drawing room that is an impressive 22ft x 18ft. A spacious, separate sitting room is an inviting family space.
