11 breweries in the South West are to go head to head in a bid to be crowned the winner of CAMRA's Champion Beer of Britain competition.

A total of 71 breweries are taking part across the 海角视频, and they'll compete next month.

The competition has been a year in the making with regional heats and local tasting panels aroud Britain.

Local breweries represented include:

  • Bay鈥檚 Brewery, Devon 聽- returning for a second year, Bay鈥檚 is a multiple award-winning family run business based in Torbay.
  • Hanlons Brewery, Devon 聽- another familiar face in the competition, Hanlons has a history of brewing excellent ales.
  • Otter Brewery, Devon 聽- established in 1990, Otter began brewing from its farmhouse location and has since developed an award-winning range of beers.
  • Driftwood Spars Brewery, Cornwall - 聽situated in the stunning Trevaunance Cove in St Ives, this brewery has probably the best sea views around.
  • Tintagel, Cornwall 聽- boasting an environmentally-friendly brewing process, Tintagel regularly features at our winter festival.
  • Bath Ales, Bath 聽- having moved several times across the South West, Bath Ales is now firmly established in Bath itself and has since been acquired by Cornwall鈥檚 St Austell Brewery, which will attend the Great British Beer Festival with its very own brewery bar once again this year.

  • Bristol Beer Factory, Bristol 聽- driving forward the vibrant Bristol brewing scene, BBF boast a core range of beers in cask, keg and bottle.
  • Butcombe, Bristol 聽- originating in an old farm building in 1978, Butcombe has been extended twice and can now produce over 40,000 barrels of beer per year.
  • Moor Beer Co, Bristol 聽- a former winner of the Champion Winter Beer of Britain, Moor is also the first brewery to have been accredited for brewing real ale in a can.聽
  • Plain Ales Brewery, Warminster 聽- an award-winning brewery that produces a small amount of beer each week.
  • Wye Valley Brewery, Hereford 聽- a family owned brewery of original craft beers.

Nick Boley, Champion聽Beer聽of Britain coordinator, said: 鈥淚t is an incredibly exciting time for British brewers, and nowhere is this better reflected than in the Champion聽Beer聽of Britain competition, one of the most prestigious titles within the聽beer聽industry.

鈥淔rom the largest and most established brewers such as Timothy Taylor and Fullers聽 to the smallest startups such as Redwillow and Byatt鈥檚, it is anyone鈥檚 guess who will win the ultimate title this year.鈥

The Champion聽Beer聽of Britain competition opens the Great British聽Beer聽Festival, which runs from August 6-10聽 at Olympia London. For
