A Somerset jewellery shop is closing down after nearly three decades in business.
Bryants, in Clevedon, is owned by husband-and-wife team Michelle and Simon Bryant and sells gold, silver, diamond and gem-set jewellery, including designer and branded pieces.
The couple also ran a Portishead-based branch which closed in September after 22 years. It is understood the pair have decided to shut the Clevedon store due to personal reasons.
“Of course, this hasn’t been an easy decision,” said Mr Bryant. “We realise the closure of our much-loved store will likely come as a shock to our customers, but the timing is right for a new chapter, and we’ll be going out on a high.”
“Michelle and I had started to think about an end-game, we’ve had a campervan sitting on our driveway winking at us for the best part of a year.
“I have now developed an eye condition which could affect our quality of life and the lease is up on the shop. It’s time to choose time over money.
“We’ve always prided ourselves on offering quality jewellery and watches at accessible prices. Both Michelle and I are very thankful to our fantastic customers who have continued to support our independent, modest local business for almost three decades."
Mr Bryant has been in the jewellery trade for 44 years, starting at a local Portishead jeweller when he was just 19, while Mrs Bryant joined the business in 1999.
The store, which is based on The Triangle in Clevedon, is launching a 50% off sale on Saturday (November 8) at 10am as the shop prepares for closure.
