The attraction had to shut its doors for four months over the busiest time of the year

Snowdon Mountain Railway has announced an extension of its 2020 opening schedule in a bid to mitigate loses - and save jobs.

The attraction had to shut its doors during its busiest period due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions - losing four months of the season.

Now it will remain open until November 1 to try to claw back some of that lost revenue. They normally close at the end of September.

Vince Hughes, commercial manager, said: “With lockdown happening right in the midst of what would usually be our busiest period we, like many other attractions, were hit by significant losses.

"We have been fortunate that people returned since we reopened but 2020 has been our most difficult year yet.

"We’re now trying to mitigate some of the losses and have taken the decision to extend our opening for the season to allow for more people to be able to visit.

“It really is a pivotal time for tourism and we’re urging people to visit to help save the tourism sector here in North Wales.”
