Sandwich Sandwich, the Bristol-born cult sandwich brand, is set to open its third London store next month.

The family-run company, which was established in the South West in 2012, opened its first branch in the capital just over a year ago after its sandwiches went viral on social media.

The business now has two sites in Bristol - on Baldwin Street and Queens Road - as well as London outlets on Gresham Street and Mark Lane. The third London branch will be on Tottenham Court Road.

Bristol-based Nick Kleiner, a former restaurateur and the founder of Sandwich Sandwich, has enjoyed astounding success since deciding to swap fine-dining for sandwiches 14 years ago.

The brand has long had a solid fan base in Bristol, but since entering the London market Sandwich Sandwich has developed a major following, including among Premier League footballers and top chefs such as Jamie Oliver.

The company's first London store opening last year attracted such big crowds the police attended in case of a frenzy.

Touted as the new go-to venue for hungry city workers looking for an alternative to Pret, the company's new Tottenham Court Road store is its first beyond the Square Mile. As well as its signature doorstop-sized sarnies, the new branch will also have a revamped breakfast menu.

Mr Kleiner said: “We said we’d bring our sandwiches to as many Londoners as possible — and Tottenham Court Road is a huge step towards that.

“This site has some of the highest footfall in London, and we can’t wait to share our sandwiches — and our new breakfast — with a whole new part of the city.”

Josh Kleiner, head of marketing and Nick’s son, added: ‘We want to arrive at Tottenham Court Road in true Sandwich sandwich style, If that means giving away 1,000 free sandwiches to get Londoners excited, then that’s exactly what we’ll do. That’s if the city of London allow us to cause that level of carnage."
